According to the media, most of this anxiety is being triggered by uncertainty about the U.S. administration’s economic policies. While it’s always sketchy to assign cause and effect, this one seems pretty clear.
There are different ways to measure this, with the most commonly cited source showing record-high readings. An index from Baker, Bloom and Davis also spiked in recent days, especially over the weekend.
