So bad it's good?
About the only positive from today's session is that the selling pressure has been so compressed, it could be a medium- to long-term positive. This was the 2nd session out of the past 3 with at least 93% of NYSE volume flowing into stocks that declined on the day. Over the past 60 years, this has been a rare sign of severe - and potentially exhaustive - selling. The only instance that didn't see a rebound was September 2008, during the height of the meltdown of the financial system.
