Chinese stocks are a different breed. They don't conform to the behavior of most other international indices, especially when it comes to momentum. A recent surge shows promise, but with caveats. Adding to the potential tailwinds, however, is the recent breakout in copper prices, which have a good track record of preceding gains in the Hang Seng index.
