Corn momentum as we approach peak seasonality
Corn registered the third-highest 252-day rate of change since 1902 on 5/7/21 with a reading of 144.54%. As we approach the seasonally weak summer months for the commodity, I wanted to identify all instances when it was up 100% or more in June. Unfortunately, the sample size was tiny, so I relaxed the rate of change parameter to 75% to identify a few more instances.
As I write this note, corn is up 94.67%, with three trading days left in May. Whether it holds above the 75% threshold is anyone's guess.
Let's take a look at the rate of change chart and signal performance.
